![]() Today was a wonderful Wednesday in Room 18! We had a birthday celebration for Dax B, where he wanted to give all his friends gifts. He generously gave 2 Pokemon cards to each person in our class! A big thank you to him. We have another birthday tomorrow, so we are all very excited. Today was the Terry Fox Run at our school! Everyone did a FANTASTIC JOB and gave it their best!!! You all rock! We counted 202 laps from our class in total.Thank you to everyone who took time to raise money as well, we all know its an important cause that affects everyone. We learned more about Terry today too and most kids felt inspired to run for him after learning the story (again). PICTURE DAY FRIDAY! I have been seeing a lot of haircuts this week, so I can tell people know its coming:) Happy Reading Tonight! Here is a note from Calgary Reads looking for Volunteers: Reading and growing in schools across Alberta Creating a culture of reading is a collaborative effort, involving schools, educators, families, researchers, volunteers and community partners. The Alberta Reads Network brings all those groups together for a common purpose: to ignite children’s passion for reading. Through this collaborative partnership, we work directly with school districts in urban centres as Calgary Reads Novels and with individual schools across the province as Chapters. Our expanding network of Alberta schools is bringing the joy of reading to young students across the province. Trained volunteers are reading aloud to children, schools are hosting events to celebrate literacy and promote reading inside and outside the classroom and Calgary Reads’ programs, resources and supports are making a difference to hundreds of Alberta children every day. Make a difference one book at time There’s something magical about reading books aloud to children. It opens their minds and hearts to reading and sparks a sense of curiosity that can energize a lifetime of learning. Calgary Reads offers several school-based reading and tutoring programs for young children. And we need your help. Each program relies on volunteers to make them successful. You can volunteer as an individual or as a member of your work or community team.
