WE ARE READY TO CATCH THEM ALL!
We had a wonderful afternoon with our big buddies creating our leprechaun traps. We have all types of traps- booby traps, slide trips, pulleys, slime traps, you name it! They worked very hard and we hope it pays off! Looking forward to Monday to see if we had success. Parent Teacher interviews are available to book through CBE. They are next Wednesday evening, and Thursday morning. Please check that out and schedule yourself for a suitable time. Have a great weekend! Happy Sunshiney Day!
We have been enjoying this weather all week. The students have choosen to forgo their indoor centers at the end of the day, in order to have more time playing outside. It has been awesome! We designed out traps today with our Big Buddies help. They gave us some great ideas about how to build the right trap so the Leprechauns can't escape!! We will start building tomorrow and Friday! Please remember Library books for tomorrow! Thanks to everyone for bringing in leprechaun supplies. We are getting very excited to catch some little friends. Today we wrote a letter to Mr. Suarez asking for permission to let us catch leprechauns since we will treat them nice and share our reward with the whole school. Tomorrow we will start to plans our trap designs.
Mission Impossible is set up this week in the gym. The grade 5's set up a challenging ninja course for us to practice going through this week. It is quite tricky- we have to act like little leprechauns all the way through. See photo below. Spelling words this week: call cold does fast first give five found gave Today I sent home a letter about Leprechaun traps today. We will be building them next week in order to prepare for St. Patricks Day. We hope to catch them next weekend so we will leave them out next Friday. If you have any supplies around the house you are willing to let us use please send them in early next week.
They will not be returned. Items could include: -small boxes -plastic cups -string -popsicle sticks -tin foil -recycling -toilet paper rolls -cereal boxes Thanks for your help! This will be an exciting challenge for the students. We hope to catch a few Leprechaun to take us to them end of the rainbow!!! or Disneyland! Have a great weekend! Today we worked on another round of boat building. We made sail boats today with corks, sails and toothpicks. At first they didn't work because the didn't have a keel. We then added a keel with clay on the bottom attached to another toothpick. It was amazing how well they floated once we added the clay. The kids were very excited once they floated on their own. I have attached a picture.

Dear Parents or Guardians, Occupational Therapy services are being provided by Alberta Health Services in your child’s classroom. The classroom teacher has requested whole class sessions which your child will be part of. These sessions will focus on developing concepts and strategies in: Regulation of energy level and emotions Working memory, inhibitory control and flexible thinking (executive functioning skills that are pre-cursors to self-regulation) will be targeted using activities and class discussions. The Zones of Regulation® program will be used to support the development of selfregulation skills. Thanks so much! Don't forget periods in your sentences. This week we are making a Northern Alphabet class book as our Big Final Project for Northern Canada. We having been looking at Arctic life and animals, and Inuits for a couple months now and we are ready to show off what we know. We starting brainstorming ideas today. Today we did Ted Harrison Art with warm and cool colours.
We learned about the Arctic Skies and Arctic Tundra before painting. We discovered how the hills rolled and how beautiful the sunsets and sunrises can be. Ted Harrison is a famous Canadian Artist who has painted many scenes from his time living in the Yukon. The paintings turned out really well and look just like Ted Harrison's style. Next week- we hope to make a Ted Harrison Alphabet book with words from the North. Have a safe and fun weekend in the snow. |
