Happy Warm Day Everyone!
We were all in high spirits today with this 'heat wave' so we decided to have a Pirate Day! It was all very exciting, we read some pirate books together, talked about pirate words like 'aye', 'ar' and 'shiver me timbers' and also made our very own pirate maps with routes to treasure. The students learned about map features and have mastered making their own compasses which is so important for finding treasure! This week in literacy, we are focusing on Lips the FIsh to help us read. She is part of the Beany Decoding Animals I posted about last week. We looked at beginning sounds today, and tomorrow we will look at 2 letter beginning sounds like sh, ch, and th. We have also have Big Buddies tomorrow with our grade 6 class! Finally, remember to keep handing back your photo forms! Thanks. Ms. Groen
